New Year - New Beginnings..

It's been awhile. A long while, since I last sat down and took the time to get on to the blog. Not that I had made a decision to stop blogging, there was just other things coming in the way. Life happened. I simply haven't had the time, and I guess my priorities on evenings and weekends were just to be with my kids and husband as much as possible, and not getting on the computer to download pictures and blog as soon as I had the chance.

I have missed it a lot. I have so many pictures to share and so much to write about. We have done so many adventures and everywhere we turn here on our beautiful island there is a photo opportunity and something worth documenting. The more time that passed, the harder it was to get back. Where to start? Try to play catch up again? It was overwhelming and when the thoughts did come back to that I wanted to start writing and posting again on a regular basis, it still was hard to know how and where to start.

I have always enjoyed blogging. I have enjoyed posting and documenting our life, I love that I have all the posts and picture bombs from all the years. So many memories, and so much to look back on and smile and read and reread again. To remember. It's a diary, but a much better one, one with pictures and one with discussions and one with sweet comments.

To be able to share with family and friends, and I know that many have missed the updates and to see and read about all our adventures and day-to-day activities. I had thought that I would start over now in the beginning of the year, but again, time has been lacking.

But, I will make an effort to try to keep at it. To commit mostly to myself to keep writing, keep posting and sharing pictures. I will regret it if I don't as there is so much that won't be documented otherwise.

I don't even know if anyone is still checking in here, besides some of my family, and I guess that's ok, as I have been absent from most peoples blogs too.

But, if you do happen to check in here again, please leave a short comment, as I would love to see if anyone is still "out there"!

There will be a few posts to catch up on our past trip to Seoul, South Korea over the holidays, and other things that we have done, and they will be mixed with every day posts too. I will try to set aside some time every day to catch up. The kids have had lots of performances in school too, and I know that family are waiting to see them on video. They are all saved, and will be coming soon!!

Closing Down The Blog

As many of you might have noticed, it's been hard for me to find the inspiration to blog and even if I have so much to write about, so many pictures to share it's hard to feel that I can blog about what I want without having to wonder who will read and who will comment.

I don't have many people commenting on my updated posts, when someone does, it makes me happy and it's very much appreciated. BUT the last couple of months this has changed. Almost every day I have recieved horrible comments on older posts, where the content is absolutely disgusting. It's the absolute lowest of low, when you think someone can't go lower- it goes beyond that. I have totally lost the interest in posting, in fear of what will be on the comments when I open up the blog. I have tried to ignore this, in hope that this person will stop and that the person will loose interest, but unfortunately it doesn't seem like this will happen soon.

So, that left me with two choices. To stop and close the blog down totally, or to continue with restricted readers only. As I don't want to stop, I have chosen to try to close the blog down and only have invited readers, in hope that this will "solve" the problem.

I know that this will cause problems and that I probably will loose some of my readers as it's now not easy to just click in, but I hope that this will work out. I don't know any other way right now.

If you are invited to read, could you please let me know if it was easy to log in this way or if there is a way that I can make it easier? What upsets me is that it seems to be that you have to have a google account to be able to log in? So annoying. I wish that there was a way to just have a secret code to log in with..would make it so much easier for everyone!

Anyway, thank you for understanding, and hopefully I'll be able to blog more frequently now!

New Design

I have wanted to get a new design on the blog for some time now, and as we soon will leave the cacti in Arizona behind us, I figured it was time to get a more natural look. I might change it up a little bit more or add some colors here and there, but for now, I like it! Hope you do too!

Hello September!

August is over and done. Labor Day is here today, which also means for most Americans that it's end of Summer. Not here though. Today's high will be around 110F/44C...sigh..

I wish that I could spend the day with a good book, bring out the blankets, light some candles or why not a fire, drink some warm tea....or why not open up a bottle of of red wine with a friend..

I just love these two outdoor fireplaces. One day maybe..

It's not really the same to welcome fall when the outside is still in the blasting heat of summer. I guess the tea and blankets will have to wait another couple of months.

I also realize that I'm way behind on the blog again. I really wanted to get into blogging now and catch up, but then I got sick and the kids got sick and then nothing got done around here. On Thursday I started to get a sore throat and then I got a headache worse than normal. Body ache, headache, sore throat and just so tired. Couldn't have come at a worse time, as this weekend would be the only weekend that my husband would be able to come home from his 7 week away training, as it's for the Marines is a 4 day weekend. BUT, as this training is almost worse than boot camp, as there is so much physical training, he just can't afford to take the risk of getting sick. There is no excuses for being sick and if you can't keep up, you get sent home..To get sent home and not finish this Staff academy class, this leadership course would be a dead sentence for any Marine. A Marine that can't finish his leadership, can't possibly lead his marines, and what use is he then for the Corps? So, as you understand, I highly recommended him to stay away, and he stood on stand by for Friday, Saturday to see if I would feel better, but Cassandra started to feel ill too, and the little ones have snotty noses, so there was no choice but to stay away for the whole weekend. He had a lot of work to do anyway, so he has been busy studying anyway.

Such a shame, but with no doubt the best decision. We had looked forward to see him again, and ofcourse the kids had looked forward to do some fun things this long weekend, instead we have been hanging around the house laying around on the sofa trying to rest..But, there will be other times.

Anyway, later on there is a lot of things that has happened that I need to write about, I just need to find the time. I hope you all had a great Labor Day Weekend and I wish you a great first week of fall!

What a great space for a family dinner...

Two Months Later...

Yes, we have been back in the US since August 5th, but it's been so much that has been going on since then, so there has been no time for me to catch up on the blog at all. I don't really know how I'll be able to sum this summer up in a few entries, so I'll for sure photo bomb you with lots of summer pictures in coming entries. I'm excited to be back in the blog world, to check out all my favorite blogs to see what's been going on and how everyone's summer was. It will take me some time to catch up on your blogs as well as my own blog.

So in short terms, what's been going on here since we came back?

- Trying to cope with the heat. We came back from a warm Sweden to a hot Arizona. It's summer and it's HOT. I haven't missed the everyday temperatures around 40-45C/105-115F. It's been really hard on the kids too, that loved being outside everyday in Sweden. From waking up and playing outside before breakfast, having breakfast, lunch and endless beach days coming back home and have dinner outside. They were outside almost all of their waking time, and they loved it. Not being able to do that here, play the same games, having to get used to play more indoors or shorter periods but feeling too hot and sweaty anyway outside, has been a hard reality for the kids, and for me that have had very upset kids here. "I want to go back to Sweden, I love Sweden"...is comments that we have had to listen to. To be able to get out of the house at all, we went to the pool over the weekend.

- When we came back to Yuma, my husband was not able to get days off as planned, so he was in and out of work "checking out" as it's called when they leave the unit for a while. After only a week "together" here at home, he left for his Staff Academy in San Diego last Wednesday. He will have a hard 7 weeks of duty, school and lots and lots of PT (physical training). It's not a walk in the park, that's for sure. It felt pretty sad that we didn't get more time together, after being in Sweden for 6 weeks, and now he'll be gone for 7 weeks. But, that's life, and this was not a choice but something that he has been on the list to do for a long time, and that we knew about. Still, I had hardly put the suitcases away, when it was time to take two back out for him to pack this time.

- School's started for Cassie on August 11th! She is now a 7th Grader! We were there for an open house the Friday before they started, to meet all the new teachers and check out what they were going to work on and what school supplies needed to be bought. More about that later when I've downloaded pictures!

- Another delay on why I couldn't start the blog again, was that our sweet little rabbit had been naughty one day when he was out hopping around in the house. When I have him out, I always make sure that all cables and everything else that could be dangerous and not rabbit safe, is out of his way, and my husband didn't think of this as much as I normally do while we were gone. This resulted in me finding the computer power cord chewed up and the laptop was close to drained of power. Great! Luckily, at least he didn't get hurt and the cord wasn't plugged in while he bit through the wires..! Now a new cord is purchased, and blogging can begin!

- All kids have had dentist appointments for their 6 months checkup, and not all on the same day. Then Cassie had gone back to getting her weekly allergy shots, so it's been a lot of going back and forth from Dr. offices.

They both did wonderful and have no problems with their teeth = Happy mommy!
New toothbrushes with Ariel and Thor on them = Happy kids!

- Then we had an exciting home visit from Benjamin and Isabella's Preschool teachers! Very exciting times for them and myself and lots of things to think about before they start Preschool on August 26th! More about that in a separate post!

- Cassie has had play dates and sleepovers since we have been home. So much to catch up on with her friends, and it's great that she has a few good close ones! We had Emma here over the weekend and we rented some movies at the nearby Red Box. The girls were excited to watch "Divergent" and if you haven't seen it, watch it! I really liked it too, and for you who don't know about this movie, it's kind of like the the "Hungergames". Cassie has read the first book of the series, and there is a few more to go.

 Getting some movies.

 Nailart....

Brownies in the making!

- Monsoon season is here! We have had a few bad storms here and the thunder, wind and rain that comes with these storms are crazy! We had one raking through the Foothills where I live with around 70mph winds and sand were everywhere. I'm just relieved that we have been able to keep the power all the time. Not like last year when I got stuck in a Sand storm with Isabella or two years ago where we were without power for around 30 hours..Nothing that I'd like to go through again. Just thinking of it makes me feel sick, no AC in the heat...Every other night now it's been thunder and the other night the lightening struck the neighbors house across the street and set off his alarm. Crazy weather and thunder, but no rain this time. The owner of this house doesn't live there all year around, so it took about an hour for someone to come and turn off the alarm, which was loud! The other neighbor had spoken to the owner over the phone and sent someone to come and check everything out.

Normally we have a clear view over the mountains over these houses...notice the trashcans blowing around one in the front and two more further back down the street....

Houses built without gutters makes for flooded entryways...

Next day the aftermath is just not big puddles but often as here trees ripped out of the ground/sand. Not much hold for these trees in the sand and the roots have no strong foundation here in the desert. This smaller tree was in the front yard next door, but many more and many much bigger trees were down all around the area.

The oncoming thunderstorms are pretty amazing looking
when clouds are gathering in the sunset.

Well, that's kind of what's been going on here since we came back. Now I'm onto sorting through many pictures from our amazing summer!!

Catching Up

I just don't seem to get to the computer at all these days, thousand things that gets in the way, and with my husband sleeping during the day, all my attention is to try to activate the kids in our outside of the house, to keep them from waking him up. The afternoons when he has left, go to picking up the work around the house, dishes, go to the grocery store, vacuuming and the never ending laundry..Then Cassie comes home from school, checking homework, making dinner, take the kids out again for an hour playtime/bike time before bath and bedtime when the weather isn't so hot anymore..The days go by, and when I finally have them in bed after 9pm, I still sometimes check homework, go through mail, fold laundry or other things that doesn't wake anyone up. I sometimes have an hour or so after that when I just watch some TV, but the computer normally doesn't get switched on anymore.

I miss it, having the time to write here and to  read other blogs, I wish there were more time, but it doesn't seem to be at the moment. I have so many things that we have done that I have taken pictures of, and I will try to sort the pictures out here and there, to catch up on some things that we have done lately. There will be some posts coming, hopefully over the weekend.

Have a nice weekend everyone!

Hello April!

Time goes as always way too fast, and there is so much that I'm behind on, I'm as always playing the catch up game here on the blog..Well, better late then never I guess.

We have had busy weeks in the end of last Month, and these last couple of days have been filled with sick kids, Spring Break and of course a Birthday celebration! There will hopefully be a few more entries here on the blog to catch up, and I just have to try to give myself the time, as I do enjoy the blog way too much to not do it, and there is so many pictures that I've taken that I just want to document with the events that we've done.

I hope that you are still a few out there that are coming back reading, as I know it's not always fun to keep coming back to a blog and there is nothing new..I try to keep track of all my favorites, but it's so much easier to read a few minutes here and there throughout the day, than to actually sit down and comment and do your own entries with pictures. I'll try to get back on track!

I hope that you all have had a great start of April, for many of you the start of Spring. Here it's as always hard to think that way, as it's actually cooler temperatures now than from what we had in February, as we have had under normal for a week. Only around 75-80's, where we before were going on and over 90's. BUT, I'm not too worried, the heat will soon be back!!

Thank You!

I would like to say thank you so much to you who have taken the time and written to me about Benjamin's doctor's visit. It is always so nice to hear from you readers, and to read a comment here and there. That you take time to comment and write something encouraging, comforting and well wishes for my son, is very nice! So again - Thank you!

Today, Thursday, he is doing much better. He is still taking his antibiotics of course, it's twice a day for ten days and I'm glad that he is taking the medicine without any problems. Normally it's hard to even get him (or Isabella for that matter) to take any Tylenol or anything without spitting and crying, so I was a bit worried how this would work out for so long. Luckily it must taste good, it's pink and smells like strawberries..:)

My sweet son that tonight also ate better than normal. If you ever have had a child that is a picky eater, refuses to eat anything and everything, that doesn't eat more than a bite and this is a constant battle - you can understand how excited I was when he finished his plate!

What he ate? Pasta sprinkled with a lot of pixie dust (Parmesan cheese), coins (hotdog slices) that needed to be put away in the treasure chest (his stomach) and spoons full of gold (corn). I guess I have to serve up another Pirate meal tomorrow's dinner!

No Internet

Just a quick stop here tonight. I've been packing, organizing all day, and the kids have been driving me crazy! I even thought that Isabella was coming down with fever, as she was getting hot and slept for over an hour this afternoon, just like that, that hasn't happened for months!!

That would have been our luck, now this weekend with sick kids when we have so much to do, but luckily she was doing good after the nap. When Chris came home earlier today, he met up with the owner to get the keys and all other things that needed to be signed, and when he came home, the trailer arrived. We are borrowing a huge trailer, and it was much bigger than I thought.

So due to that, I didn't get t chance to get to the new house until much later than I had planned to clean. I cleaned the bathrooms, kitchen, pantry and wiped the walk in closet so we can start to put things in where they belong right away. Wasn't home until after 9.30pm and got Isabella to bed later than normal, due to her nap..

Now it's one more time sleeping, and then we'll be in the new house. Busy weekend, and tomorrow they will disconnect the internet here, but it will take them a week (!!) to get us connected in the new house, so no blogging for a while. I'm probably one of few that doesn't like to blog from my phone, but I'll be busy anyway in the house.

Hopefully I have plenty of new pictures of our new home to show you next time you check in here!

Have a great weekend and following week, and hopefully I see you then!

Until then I show you a picture of our new home that I took driving by one day.

Playing Catch Up

As some of you might have noticed, I've been pretty absent lately. I'm trying to catch up on my own blog, but the time to read and to comment on all my favorite blogs isn't there right now. There is a lot of things going on right now. Since Easter, Cassie's birthday, kids being sick, myself being sick with a virus and cough from hell, and still not totally recovered, Spring break with plenty of activities, BIG science project to help on over Spring break that was turned in today, there hasn't been much time to spend by the computer.

Believe - that it all will be good in the end..

And there is a LOT more going on in my life right now to put on top of that, a lot of stress with a lot of changes, decisions, hoping, believing, realizations, acknowledgements, excitement, disappointment, sadness ....but more about that later. I still haven't been able to reach everyone that should be notified before reading about it on the blog.....

Just wanted to quick send out a message and say that I haven't forgotten you all, I haven't ignored you or not bothered to comment, I just have no time right now. I hope you all are doing fine and I'll be back..it will just take some time!

Spam

What's going on with the spam lately? This past week it seems to just get more and more and today I've had over 50 !! spam comments that went through the filter on one specific entry! That's way too much! Normally the spam filter picks up pretty much all of them, even if some entries seem to get more spam than others..The spam filter itself picked up 120 spam comments from just today.

This past week I've gotten over 5000 visits to one specific entry, and not even a very special one - "Christmas Eve Morning", where there are some pictures of the kids getting the stockings from Santa. Nothing really that should be high interesting for spam, especially not at this time of year?! Yesterday, I had my highest page viewers of all times - over 1200, and I was very surprised to say the least, as I haven't even had time to blog the last couple of days, and just been checking in from the phone. Then when I went into the statistic, the spam is just all over!!

What in the world is going on? Is it just happening to me or do you other blogger/blogspot users have the same? Anyone know why? Have they changed anything recently? Now I have to go back to the entries and remove it all..so annoying.

I wonder why though? I wonder why they pick up on specific entries like that? Where does it come from? I've had "problems" with spam earlier, where a lot of comments have passed through the filter, but that has been with entries where there are certain related comments from companies etc. Like if I've been writing about playgrounds etc, then I get all these companies that wants me to check out their websites and all. But sometimes there is nothing at all related, and that's when I wonder..

If this happens to anyone else, please let me know, and what do you do about it?!

To Get Offline

It's been quiet here on the blog. I got off line for a few days. At least, I've been spending very little time online, and not enough to get to the blog. I've been spending more time with the kids outside over the weekend, and the last couple of days have been very busy with other things to do, so there hasn't been too much time for blogging. Sometimes, it's just too much going on, or too much to share, and sometimes it's better not to share at all. When that's the case, it's better to just get offline!

But, we are all fine and are actually planning for a little getaway this weekend, which I'm very much looking forward to. I can't wait to spend away from home, and for the whole family to do something nice together! I'll be trying to get some more updates from the last couple of days in here on the blog maybe tonight or tomorrow, right now, other things are taking up my time!

Wow!

I got myself a surprise this morning, when I opened up the blog and realized that I had just passed 100,000 pageviews! Whoohoo! I knew that it was coming up soon, but it came up earlier than expected due to the last week. I have had a much higher "traffic" on the blog than "normal" and where I usually before used to have around 250 pageviews/day, I now had my all time high/day with 597 on New Years Eve! I feel humbled, especially on such a day where most people are very busy!

Thank you so much all of you that take time out of your day to check in on me and brighten my every day life with kind comments. I appreciate them all very much!

I think it's wonderful to see that the blog is growing, even if that was never my intention to try to "please" a lot of readers, but more for myself and my family. That so many people do check in here and seem to come back, makes it very inspiring to keep it up, and to get some feedback here and there, is a great way of seeing who's actually taking the time to read and look at the pictures.

I got curious to see when I had reached 50,000, and that was back in May 2012. In August I had reached 70,000 and since then I didn't think about documenting it, but now since August, 30,000 clicks on my page have been made. Amazing!

Anyway, just wanted to say that wow, what a great way to start the new year, lets see if I make it another 100,000 until next New Year?

To YOU all, who has made this number - that is just a number and doesn't really mean anything, but still feels special and brought a big smile to me - I want to say:

I'm Out Of Space..

Help needed!!

So I can't download any more pictures to my blog, I'm out of space apparently. Now is the big question, how much storage do I need? How much do I purchase that keeps me running? I don't want to pay a non refundable fee every month if I don't use it....sigh! Why do they have to make everything so complicated!

What about you other bloggers out there?? How much storage do one need? I download a lot of pictures, but I don't know how much I'd need....How do you do this? Any tips???

This is the warning coming up when I want to download pictures:

2 years!

Today it's time to celebrate. For many different reasons, but we can start with one of them. My blog turns 2 years old today. Hard to imagine that it's already two years ago since i wrote my first entry, and what has happened since.

All the wonderful people that I have met and gotten to know through mine and their blogs. Most not met in real life, but very many new people that it feels like I know and would love to meet!

So many memories have been documented, both sad ones and happy ones. Holidays, birthdays, vacations and everyday life. Milestones and pictures of my wonderful children. I'm so happy to be able to document our life like this, it's a perfect way for me to keep it up to date with family and friends and to save everything that I write and to be able to combine it with pictures.

I'm so happy that you my readers still stick around and that new ones drop by and hopefully come back.  What I wrote last year you can read here, and I can only agree with what I wrote then!

For all my sweet readers -

Thank you for taking time out of your day to check in with me!

70 000!

Sometime today, I hit the 70 000 mark, in page views that is! I'm so happy to see that even if there has been periods of less writing from my side over the summer, I have gained 20 000 page views since May, when I hit the 50 000 mark. Before that, I had gained 10 000 in two months, so I have actually gained more readers over the summer! Thank you so much!!

As i normally do when I hit a mark like this, I like to ask my readers that I don't know to leave a comment on who they are and where they live. If you are a new reader and keep coming back, but don't normally comment, what is it that makes you read my blog?

I would be really interested to find out! Especially now as I see that I've gained more readers. It's always fun to see who is reading and why they found me. Through friends, through some blog lists or where? It keeps amaze me that so many readers keep coming back and that so many new ones come in here, as most of my posts are about family, and not nearly so interesting maybe as many other blogs out there. I don't complain, I think it's nice if I somehow can attract others than just my personal family and friends. It's just surprising to me as I never aimed to get a lot of readers or never thought that our family life would be interesting to others.

I'm very thankful for all my readers, old and new ones, family and friends and of course my blog friends that makes it so much more fun to write as we tend to check in on each other and leave a comment here and there. It's nice to have a couple of people that I know will comment here and there, as comments on what you write and on pictures of course inspire and feels somewhat rewarding. It's also very nice to get some input on what you write, advise or just someone to share your joy or worries with.

For some of you that have commented here and there in the past and might still be reading, I always think it's nice when you do leave a short hello, nice to see if you are still around!

So thank you to you all!

50,000!

Logged in and check out the number!! It doesn't seem like very long ago I in March reached 40,000 viewers, and now about 2 Months later, another 10,000 has added to the number. It's never been so tight  between Sweden and the US either, very funny how that is! At this point Sweden is ahead, and a little bit later today, US most likely will be on the top, as Sweden is sleeping. Fun to see!

I'm very happy and thankful that family and friends take the time to check in on us, show interest in our every day life and get to take part of our children's childhood and milestones. I love to blog and would probably keep doing it anyway to document our lives for us and for the children, but to have feedback on what you write, your thoughts and pictures makes it even more fun!

Thank you also to all my blog friends out there! I'm so happy to have found each and every one of you and that you have found me! It brings me very much joy to recieve comments and discuss different subjects with you and to get to know new places through your eyes, hear about other peoples experiences in different countries and cultures. It's great and I hope that you keep coming back!

Still many of you know by now and don't have to even press the link, but for any new readers I always take the opportunity to tell them about comments and the purpose of the blog. If you are a new reader, feel free to check out this , this and this link!

Talking so much about appreciation this week with Cassie here at home and here on the blog, I also want to show my appreciation to you! For all of you reading this I'd like to give you a beautiful flower as a Thank you for stopping by - and welcome back!!
