It's Monsoon Season here. It hardly ever rains in Yuma, and most of these Monsoon storms, that should bring rain, mostly only bring thunderstorms and strong winds, but the rain hardly ever falls in Yuma. Other parts of Arizona seem to be luckier, but the times that we actually have had rain this year is easily counted on one hand...
The other night, we had some strong thunderstorm that actually brought a heavy rainfall, but it only lasted for about an hour, and was in the middle of the night, and already gone in the morning. Only leaving damp ground as evidence. Much different today! It was pouring down. It started about 5am and continued on until about 10am! Here and there, it really came down strong, to later continue to fall very light, but it didn't stop once during that time. Then the sun came out for a couple of hours, but later in the afternoon, it started raining again. It only lasted for about 30 minutes, but the kids got to enjoy it. Pictures of that later, as I have to download them from the Canon first.
Of course, this is something that the kids hardly have seen, they are not even aware of anything called raincoats or rain boots...They hardly have used an umbrella! So it was fun for them to look at the rain outside at the patio. We realized that the roof on the outdoor patio isn't the best, and it was leaking here and there. I guess they didn't really care to waterproof the extension, as it isn't really an issue here with a lot of rain. I had to take a couple of pictures with the phone, as the battery to the camera wasn't charged. But still, just to see the raindrops on the palm trees in our backyard is something different! Rain in the desert, what a treat!
The Aloe Vera plants got flooded at the front entry.
Gray skies and overcast..
Raindrops!!
No filter, but the flash kicked in when I took close up of the small palm tree bush,
explaining the really strong green color.
No hot stones today!!
