Lunch Date

Last week, Chris was finally back working on our base again for the day, and we decided to go out for lunch. As we hadn't seen Miss Miho, his interpreter from this office, we decided to invite her along with us. She is such a sweet woman, always so helpful and has become our "go-to" for all kind of questions, translations and help in any kind of way.

It was great to see her again, and I there wasn't the place to take pictures of us, but I quickly snapped a few of our Japanese lunch, in a to us new restaurant. Always nice to try something new!

Tempura, Sushi and hot Soba noodles.

Ginger Pork menu.

Tempura, Sashimi Menu with cold Soba noodles.

All menus and plates always comes with Miso soup, white rice and little soy sauce mixes for dipping. Very nice and fresh. I had some tempura, the cold and hot Soba noodles is not my thing. It's like a beef broth with special texture noodles, sometimes with a slice of pork or fish on top. Nope, not my taste, but tempura shrimp and vegetables is always nice!

Uken Beach

Happiness is that we can enjoy a sunny warm day in the beginning of March on the beach! Instead of "just" going to the playground for a few hours after school, we lucky enough that we can take the car and drive 10 minutes and spend those two hours with playing on the beach before it was time to go home and make dinner!

It is still way too cold to swim, and with the rainy winter that we have had that now is slowly turning into the "Rainy season" it's nice to at least catch a break with the bad weather and enjoy some sunny warm weather! This was about two weeks ago.

Time on the beach is always a good time- swimming or not!

Sakura Everything

The other day, I went to the big AEON mall together with my sweet friend R. My Aussie friend, that lives in the same tower as us. I am so happy to have met her, and we have tried to meet up very often for a coffee or just a chat. This time, we went out to have a coffee date at Starbucks, but both of us ended up trying the so much talked about Sakura Strawberry Frappuchino.

Honestly, it tasted like an extremely sweet strawberry milkshake, with a hint of cherry and a lot of white chocolate flakes sprinkled in the drink. No, won't order it again. But why not try to see what the hype is all about here on Okinawa where everything has been Sakura (Cherry Blossom) for about two months now.

Why not get some beer with a hint of Cherry Blossom??

No thank you! Not a fan of beer or cherry flavor anyway!

Twins At The Zoo

Last Sunday, Chris was working most of the day and Cassie had homework to do, so to do something, I took the kids to the Zoo in the afternoon. It's not too far and as the weather wasn't the best for some playground or beach adventure, the Zoo was perfect.

We know the Zoo pretty well, as we have yearly passes, but we still go there to enjoy the area, the animals, the parks and the merry-go-round and the motorbikes as the kids call them. Here are some pictures from our afternoon.

First stop, to check in on the baby elephant.

Ice cream time- ice cream from the vendor machine that is!

Petting Zoo

Then we had to take the obligatory picture by the Zoo sign. This time the kids were playing around and I even got some selfies with the kids and I!

Saying hi to the the big elephants. It was the last time of them being on Okinawa and therefore no more elephant rides. They were going back to Thailand this week. I wish that Cassandra would have had the chance to ride them, as the kids and I did, but I hope that they will come back next year again!

After the playarea, it was time to slowly get back to the car and go home. While walking back to the parking lot, we passed a lot of newly planted beautiful areas, maybe in time for Easter?! Very pretty and we stopped to take a few pictures. I think that we have to go back and take some pretty pictures of the kids here, perfect photo props for Spring pictures!

Perfect place for a family picture! Maybe the Easter bunny will stop by next weekend?
