7.59am & 3.18pm

This was yesterday morning, walking to the school bus early morning. Well, considering that Cassie leaves the house to go to the same bus stop almost 2 hours earlier, it wasn't that early after all! So we wouldn't have to rush, we walked the 5 minutes walk already at 7.45am even if the bus isn't supposed to leave until 7.59am. They were so cute walking together, holding hands for a bit, letting go when we had to wait for awhile.

Ready for a new day in Kindergarten!

As we were early at the bus stop, we sat down for a little bit by the table and they were looking around for friends and kept looking for the right bus number to get on. Just around 8am, the buses pulled in and one after one opened up to let the kids in.

Bus id's ready to show the bus supervisor.

After hugs and kisses, they lined up with the rest of the Kindergartners, that are the first ones to get on (and off) the bus. The lady is helping them on the bus, after checking their id's so that they are getting on the right bus according to her list. Good that they get a little help on the steps, the backpack plus attached lunch box and water bottle, could easily tip them over!

Big step for a little Kindergartner!

And off they went!

My plan with them going on the bus from school for the first time and then get on the bus here the next day worked out well. They were not nervous at all, they knew how it worked, they knew that the teacher assistant would wait for them by the bus stop and walk with them to their classroom. No problem at all!

In the afternoon, I was ready, like about 50 other people with little kids and strollers everywhere, to pick them up at 3.18pm when their bus was supposed to drop them off. We waited and waited...

Three other buses came and dropped off, and the waiting crowd at the bus stop got smaller, but bus number 25 and 26 still hadn't arrived! Everyone was starting to wonder what was going on, and at 3.45pm and still NO bus, I called the Transportation Office to ask what was going on?! He said that he didn't have any details, but that the bus was on it's way. And sure enough, at almost 4pm, it pulled in! So late, and when I asked the supervisor why they were so late, she said that a parent had lost their child!! What???? This really got me worried, as I had been so happy with the security and all regarding the buses!

Update on this I got this morning, when we walked to the bus stop. Ben's friend J and his mom was already there, and as I hadn't seen them there before I asked if this was the first time taking the bus. So she told me the drama they had yesterday! They had a different bus stop, and J had thought that he was supposed to get off at the Skate park, which is the closest stop to our tower, which they also live in. So J wasn't responding to the supervisor when called on the bus, he thought it was a different J they called! His mom was going crazy worried and they had to call the school and ask, check with the other buses if he would be on them etc. That took almost 30 minutes, as they were calling around before he finally after lots of asking told them he was indeed on the bus!! Crazy, but at least he was safe and sound, but I understand my friend, I would have been worried too, and not just wanted the bus to leave without giving me an answer on where my child is!! So, after all, there are no problem with the security and supervision, only a little boy not paying attention to when his name is being called!!

Happy boy getting off the bus!

Sweet little troopers, after an extra long bus drive home!

After just being home for awhile, Chris came home early to pick us up as we had a parent meeting at Cassie's school at 5.30pm. More about that in a separate post, as this could be interesting for family and friends to read about.
