We have found the perfect place to hang out for the summer! An almost private pool just here in the neighborhood. It's a gym that has this pool in connection to it, and with a monthly membership the pool is included! To buy a family membership is here is much cheaper than at other pools in town, and to have it close by and with the gym included makes it just right! Because it's a small pool with no life guards, they don't have any swimming lessons, which makes it even better as it then is open all day! Most pools here are not open until after 12 or 1pm, as they have swimming lessons all through morning, and I've always wanted to be able to go to the pool in the mornings with the kids, as it's normally too hot 40C and more in the afternoon, which makes it almost too hot to even be in the pool. Now we can go in the morning for an hour or so if we want, and then go back later in the day, after a break at home with lunch and taking it easy inside for a while.
This pool is now open from 10am-7.45pm 6 days a week, closed on Sundays. The best part? It's hardly any people there! We got the membership on Friday last week and we've been there a few times since then and we have been alone for the most part. Perfect! Just like our private pool. The water is really warm as you can imagine here in the desert, so the kids love it! They do so well, they are not scared at all of the water and both Isabella and Benjamin are swimming around in just their arm floaties and are having so much fun with it. I have to watch them as they do not always keep their mouths closed, but for the most part, they are doing really good! If they keep it up so well this summer with private swimming, we'll do swim lessons here next year. They already now make it from one side of the pool to the other by kicking their little legs..
I will also try to go there for some time when Chris is off work, trying to get some workout in, as it would be a shame not to take advantage of that now when I paid for the membership. Even if their hours are generous, it still isn't that generous that I can go during the days when Chris work. He is gone from 4am-7.30pm and then he comes home just for a shower pretty much before he is off to bed. I'm then in the middle of getting the kitchen cleaned up, picking up toys, getting the kids in the bathtub, pj's and bedtime for the kids, and around 9-9.30pm when the kids are in bed, so is Chris and I'm not going anywhere then, as the kids will wake up here and there throughout the evening and it would be too noisy going and coming home late at night when everyone is asleep. So, I have to wait until the days he is off, and try to sneak in some hours then. They have classes and lots of gym machines and at some days they even have daycare, so I'll check that out some time too. I just thought I'd like to try a few classes out first, to see which ones I like before starting to pay for daycare for the classes.
Yesterday, we were there in the afternoon again, and this time we brought along Cassie's friend Emma. The girls had a great time swimming, diving and making headstand and again, we were the only ones there until just before we left when three other families came. To have the pool to themselves and to be able to swim and play without having others all around is great, plus it makes it easier for me to keep up with them on my own!
